Accessibility Statement
Accessibility at the DIELINE Awards.
The DIELINE Awards is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards.
Standard We Aim For
The DIELINE Awards website targets WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance, with select elements meeting WCAG 2.1 Level AAA where practical (notably color contrast on the parallel accessible version).
Two Versions of the Site
We offer two versions of the DIELINE Awards experience:
The Standard Visual Version
The primary site at dielineawards.com is a cinematic, visually rich experience designed for the global packaging design community. It includes:
- Semantic HTML5 landmarks (header, nav, main, footer)
- "Skip to main content" link on every page
- ARIA labels on all navigation and interactive elements
- Descriptive alt text on all imagery
- Visible focus indicators (3px cyan outline)
- Properly labeled forms with required-field indication
- Tables with column and row scope attributes
- Decorative elements marked with
aria-hidden="true" - Background videos described via aria-label
- Reduced motion respected via
prefers-reduced-motion - Language attribute
lang="en"on every page
The Accessible Parallel Version
For screen reader users, low-vision users, and anyone who prefers a streamlined, high-contrast experience, we provide a fully accessible parallel version of the site at dielineawards.com/accessible/.
This version is built specifically for accessibility-first use and includes:
- Higher-contrast accessible color palette — all text-foreground combinations meet WCAG AAA contrast ratios (7:1 or higher for normal text)
- System fonts (no embedded base64 web fonts) for maximum compatibility and speed
- No autoplay video — all content is text-first
- Larger base body size (18px) with 1.7 line-height
- Plain semantic HTML with no decorative chrome
- Native form validation with descriptive field hints
- Strong focus indicators on every interactive element
- FAQ items as native
<details>elements (keyboard accessible by default) - Reduced motion respected
Color Contrast — Accessible Version Palette
The accessible parallel version replaces the standard brand CMYK colors with brighter accessible variants that all meet or exceed WCAG AAA contrast on the dark canvas background:
- White (#FFFFFF) on near-black (#0A0A0A): 19.8:1 — body text
- Light cyan (#66E0FF) on near-black: 12.9:1 — links and accents
- Light magenta (#FF8AC4) on near-black: 9.1:1 — call-to-action buttons
- Light yellow (#FFF59A) on near-black: 17.7:1 — emphasis
Compatibility
The DIELINE Awards website is designed to be compatible with:
- Screen readers including VoiceOver, JAWS, NVDA, and TalkBack
- Keyboard-only navigation
- Browser zoom up to 200%
- Reduced motion preferences
- High contrast modes
